NameFrank (Francis?) HENRY
BirthSep 1830, Ireland
Misc. Notes
1870 CENSUS, SANDUSKY, ERIE, OH: Head of Household is “Frances Henry”, but that could be the formal version of “Frank”? Also his age is given as “30”, and our Frank should be 39 - but that’s an easy census taker error? And the location is absolutely correct. And the sons present in the household are the right age to be the sons in the 1900 census - James (2) and Frances (1). If this is all good, then the wife is “Mary”, who was born in Ireland about 1840. (They named their first daughter “Mary”, so that may also be a clue that this is correct?) Also present in this household is an Owens Henry, age 22, born in Ireland - maybe a brother?

1900 CENSUS, SANDUSKY, ERIE, OH: Frank Henry is age 69, born Sep 1830 in Ireland. He immigrated to America in 1865, is now widowed, says his occupation is “contractor”. Living with him are his sons James Henry born Jun 1869 in Ohio, and Frank Henry, born Aug 1870 in Ohio. And his daughter Mary Brown, born Jun 1872 in Ohio. Mary’s husband (Frank’s son-in-law) is George Brown, born Mar 1872 in Germany. (Believe the census taker meant to indicate that George was a “Day Laborer”, but he put that label on the line with George’s wife Mary!) George and Mary Brown have 5 children - Bessie (born Feb 1889), Mamie (Aug 1892), Carl (Mar 1894), George (Mar 1897), and Walter (Apr 1899).

1910 CENSUS, SANDUSKY, ERIE, OH: Frank is now age 89, says he lives on “own income” (think that translates as “retired”), immigrated 1860 (VERSUS 1865 in 1900 CENSUS) Still at home is his son Frank Henry, 39, who is a manager in a stone quarry. Also in house are daughter Mary Brown (38) and son-in-law George Brown (39). Plus Frank’s grandchildren Mamie G (17), Charles W (16), George (13), Walter (11), and Lester J (2).
