“December, 1675, Gershom served as a soldier in the " Narragansett war," (aka King Philip’s War) and apparently fought in the noted Swamp fight, and endured the extreme hardship of this memorable campaign.

“He was an executor of his father's will and an heir to his estate; was a farmer in Menotomy, and probably dwelt at the " Foot of the Rocks,'" a locality in which many of his descendants long continued to reside.
