Information on John Lawrence and his family/ancestors found in “Genealogical and personal memoirs relating to the families of Boston and Eastern Massachusetts”, edited by William Richard Cutter, Published 1908. This is available on Google Books:

“Among the early settlers of Watertown were John and George Lawrence. John Lawrence, a carpenter, settled there early in 1636, and was admitted a freeman March 9, 1636-37. He married first, Elizabeth; second, Susanna ;he had twelve children by his first wife and two by his second wife. In 1662 he probably removed to Groton, Massachusetts. John and George were probably closely related, possibly father and son, and it is from the latter that the families of Watertown, Waltham and Weston by this name are descended.”
