Margarett Maehue Coffey and Ernest C. Lane were married. Ernest C. Lane was born on 19 February 1926 in Scott Co., VA. Ernest died in Portsmouth, VA on 29 June 2011 and was buried at Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC in July 2011.⁴⁴⁹⁵²

Ernest C. Lane, age 85, of Portsmouth, Virginia, died Wednesday evening, June 29, 2011, at Mayfair House Assisted Living in Portsmouth. 

Mr. Lane was born February 19, 1926, in Scott County, Virginia, a son of the late James Walker Lane and Amilee Sluss Lane. He was a retired steam fitter, and served in the United States Navy during World War II. 

Mr. Lane is survived by one sister, Betty Jo Fields and husband, Jerry, of Kingsport, Tennessee, two brothers, R. B. Lane and wife, Kate, of Weber City, Virginia and Elmer Lane of Geneva, Ohio; one brother-in-law, Joel L. Coffey, Jr. and wife, Geraldine, of Boone. One special niece, Sherry Olmo and husband, Willy, of Chesapeake, Virginia and a number of nieces and nephews also survive. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Coffey Lane, one brother, Willie Lane, two sisters-in-law, Sue Coffey Craig and Edna Lane and one brother-in-law, Allen Craig. 

Funeral services for Ernest C. Lane will be conducted Sunday afternoon, July 3, 2001, at 2:00 o'clock at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel from 1:00 to 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Rev. Brent Bolick. Military graveside rites and burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock. 

The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock at Hampton Funeral Service.
