Fifth Generation

603. Myra Coffey was born on 10 April 1812 in North Carolina. Myra died on 16 January 1871 at the age of 58 in Grainger Co., TN and was buried at Coffey Cemetery in Thorn Hill, Grainger Co., TN.2485

Bennie Coffey Loftin research questions dates of death on gravestones placed by g-grandson by H. Marcus Coffey. They give Mirah & Maleta’s dates of birth. The 1850 census indicated that Mira's birth was in 1811. There is no doubt Mirah was young when Maleta was born, but 12 years old as recently placed stones indicate is improbable.

Myra Coffey and John Hipshire were married in Grainger Co., TN. They appeared in the census on 16 October 1850 in Grainger Co., TN.2562 They2562 appeared in the census on 16 August 1860 in Grainger Co., TN.2563 Myra and John2563 appeared in the census on 25 August 1870 in Grainger Co., TN.2564 John Hipshire, son of Henry Hipshire and Delphia Delamar (?), was born on 25 December 1798 in Tennessee. Wiley Hipshire was born circa 1842 in Tennessee. He lived with his parents in Grainger Co., TN on 16 October 1850. He lived with his parents in Grainger Co., TN on 16 August 1860. Wiley died on 23 November 1861.

There were at least two Wiley Hipshers who fought with the Confederacy from Tennessee. One was a private in the 1st Regt., Tenn Cavalry, and the other was in the 26th Regt., Tenn Infantry (3d East Tenn Volunteers).

At the moment I am unsure which of these, if either, was a son of John and Mira Coffey Hipsher.

John Hipshire was born circa 1845 in Tennessee. He lived with his parents in Grainger Co., TN on 16 October 1850. He lived with his parents in Grainger Co., TN on 16 August 1860. John died in the Civil War.

There was only one John Hipsher on the Confedeate side during the Civil War. He was a private in the 12th Battalion, Tenn. Cavalry (Day's).

I am unsure if he was the son of John and Mira Coffey Hipsher.
