16929. Robert Ellis Coffey was born on 4 September 1919 in Detroit, Wayne Co., MI. Robert died at Herrick Memorial Hospital in Tecumseh, Lenawee Co., MI on 17 February 1952 and was buried at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh, Lenawee Co., MI in February 1952 .43323

Robert Ellis Coffey, son of Mrs. Grace Coffey and the late Elmer Coffey, was born Sept. 4, 1919, in Detroit and died Feb. 17, 1952, at 8:10 a.m. in Herrick Memorial Hospital in Tecumseh where he had been a patient since Dec 22, 1951.

On Aug. 25, 1944, Mr. Coffey was married to Christine Miller in Bowling Green, Ohio. They lived in Los Angeles, Calif., while he served in the Merchant Marine and moved to Detroit in 1946 where they had since made their home. He was employed by the Nash-Kelvinator Corporation for five years preceding his death.

He is survived by his wife, Christine; his mother, Mrs. Grace Coffey of Tecumseh; six sisters, Mrs. Vera (Fred) White of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Thelma (Herb) Groening of Grosse Pointe, Mich., Mrs. Vivian (George) Liddell of Skokie, Ill., Mrs. Wenonah (Carl) Price of Monroe, Mich., Mrs. Betty (Earl) Spangler of Northville, Mich., and Mrs. Mariella Smith of Adrian Mich.; five brothers, Elmer Jr. of Cleveland Heights, Ohio, Jack (Grace) of Dearborn, Lt. Charles G. (Delores) stationed in Korea with the U. S. Naval Air Force, Lee P. (Louise) of Orlando, Fla., and Jerry W. (Pat) of Tecumseh, several nieces and nephews and a number of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father in 1929.

The funeral services were held Feb. 20 at 2:30 at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Alvin C. Brazee officiating. Bearers were six brothers-in-law, Charles Smith, Carl Price, Herbert Groening, Fred White, Oglund Lay and Thomas Shulters.

Burial was in Brookside cemetery in Tecumseh. [Shirley Houk]

Christine Coffey, 92, of Tecumseh, died Friday, June 10, 2005, in Tecumseh. She was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Detroit, Mich., to Murden and Nina [Scofield] Miller. She graduated in 1932 from Tecumseh High School. In 1944, she married Robert E. Coffey and he preceded her in death on Feb. 17, 1952.

Christine was employed by Ford Motor Co., Rawsonville, for over 30 years, retiring in 1977.

Christine is survived by one half-sister, Phyllis [Ogland] Lay of Tecumseh. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dallas and George Miller and eight half brothers and sisters.

Visitation was held at the Tecumseh Chapel of Couture-Handler Funeral Homes on Monday, June 13. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, June 14 at Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh with Pastor Richard Mortimer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee.
