ROSELAND-Lafayette Givens Taylor, 89, died Saturday at 10:20 a.m. in the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville.

He was born in Nelson County on March 5, 1875, the son of the late William H. and Martha Jane Coffey Taylor. He was a member of the Massies Mill Presbyterian Church and a retired employee of the Nelson County School system.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillie May Coffey Taylor; five daughters, Mrs. Nathan Smoot of Piney River, Mrs. Signor Dillard of Madison Heights, Mrs. Paul G. Campbell of Massies Mill, Mrs. Andrew Hatter of Bedford and Mrs. W. G. Williams of Lynchburg; three sons, William H. Taylor of Piney Taylor, Robert Taylor of Tyro and Melvin Taylor of Massies Mill; one foster son, Calvin T. Lawhorne, with the U. S. Army in Germany; 19 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Preston Parr Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Cemetery.
