Mrs. Zadia Coffey Bolick

Mrs. Zadia Coffey Bolick, 92, of Route 1, Blowing Rock, widow of Mrs. William McKinley Bolick, died Friday night, Feb. 23, at Blowing Rock Hospital.

She was born May 24, 1903, in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late John and Ella Henderson Coffey. She was a member of Boone Fork Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Clara Greene and her husband, Ralph, of Blowing Rock, and one son, William "Bill" Bolick and his wife, Judy, of Hudson; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Georgia Coffey and one brother-in-law, Charlie Bolick and his wife, Elizabeth, all of Blowing Rock. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs...

William “Bill” Bolick of Hudson passed away at his residence after a courageous three year battle with liver cancer on Wednesday, May 12, 2010. His entire family was by his side.

Bill was born July 23, 1933 to the late William McKinley “Bud” and Zadia Coffey Bolick of “Coffey’s Gap”, Blowing Rock, NC. He retired from Bell South (now AT& T) after 35 years of service on November 30, 1984. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Hudson Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years and served as an assistant Chief for a brief period. Bill was a member of their Board of Directors. He was a past member of the Hudson Lions Club and involved in numerous community service projects for the town of Hudson.

Survivors are his wife of 53 years, Judy Sherrill Bolick of the residence; daughters, Deborah Bolick Stewart and companion Richard “Dick” Pawlicki, and Lesa Bolick Widener and husband Timothy; son, William Edmondson “Eddie” Bolick; Granddaughter, Amanda Brooke Pickrell and husband Jasen; grandsons, Samuel William Alexander “Alex” Smith and William Cade Bolick; one sister, Clara Bolick Greene; sister-in-law, Mary Sherrill Wellborn and husband Rev. Sherrill D. Wellborn of Wilkesboro; a niece, Mary Greene and Fred Bonadello; nephews, Reverend G. David Wellborn and Chasidi of Wilkesboro and John and Amy Greene of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Saturday May 15, 2010 at Evans Funeral Service. The funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday May 16, 2010 at the Whitnel Pentecostal Holiness Church and conducted by the Reverends Sherrill and David Wellborn.

Pallbearers will be Chief Ken Briscoe, Lieutenant Sam Smith, Lenoir Fire Department, Larry Storie, Hudson Fire Department, and Mark Suddreth, Kenny Poole, and John Warren, Hickory Fire Department.

Hudson Fire Department Members will serve as honorary pallbearers. He will receive a firefighter’s honor. Military Rites will also be observed.
