James Coffey

James Russell Coffey, 64, of North Fairview Drive, Lenoir, died Monday, Dec. 13, 1999, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

He was born June 30, 1935, in Avery County to the late Jim Coffey and Mammie Gragg Coffey. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Bown and Hazel Colcer; and one brother, Stanley Coffey.

He was retired and a member of Miracle Church.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Coffey of the home; three sons, James Harvey Coffey of Jonas Ridge, Randy Russell Coffey of Lenoir and William Dean Coffey of Indonia, Ill.; one stepson, John White of Lenoir, two daughters, Patty J. Greer of Fleetwood and Sandra Kay Moore of Lenoir; five stepdaughters, Anita C. Brittain of Ganite Falls, Wanda Robbins of Whitnel, Catherine Beaver, Mary pennell and Martha White, all of Lenoir; one sistere, Lilac C. Suddreth of Blowing Rock; five grandchildren; 19 step grandchildren; and 21 step greatgrandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The funeral is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Miracle Church with the Revs. Terry Brown and Max Crump officiating. Burial will be in Boone's Fork Baptist Church Cemetery, Blowing Rock.

The family will receive friends today from 7 until 9 p.m. at Pendry;s Lenoir Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Jim Lutz, Bruce Marley, Wayne Kanipe, George Suddrety, Steve Suddreth and James Harrison.

James Russell Coffey and Dorothy Crump were married on 5 July 1960 in Avery Co., NC.45398 Dorothy Crump, daughter of Joseph Crump and Doris Puett, was born on 29 September 1941 in Avery Co., NC. Dorothy died on 8 February 2011 at the age of 69 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine, Mitchell Co., NC and was buried at Mountlawn Memorial Park and Gardens in Boone, Watauga Co., NC.45399

Dorothy Coffey Crump, age 69, of Newland passed away on Tuesday February 8, 2011 at Blue Ridge Regional Hospital in Spruce Pine.

A native of Avery County, she was born September 29, 1941 a daughter of the late Joe and Doris Pruett [sic] Crump.

She was a member of Pittman's Gap Church and enjoyed listening to gospel and Christian bluegrass music.

Dorothy liked crafts, sewing baby blankets, cooking, canning, gardening and flowers.

Described as the most wonderful mother and grandmother, she has left to cherish her memory: her daughters, Patty Greer and husband Rex of Fleetwood; Anita Brittain of Lenoir; and Sandra K. Coffey and boyfriend John White of Lenoir; sons, William Dean Coffey of Jonas Ridge, James Harvey Coffey also of Jonas Ridge and Randy Coffey of Lenoir; sisters, Katherine Clark of Morganton, Alma Gragg of Lenoir and Ruth Carpenter of Newland: grandchildren; Bridgette, David, Timothy and wife Lorraine, Melisa and husband Dereck, Jonanthan and wife Dawn, Becky and boyfriend Cheston, Alisha, Jearmey, Jessica, Jamie, Cody and Randy; great grandchildren, Hunter, Holden, Mia, Bella, Cody, Isiaha, Breanna, Lexis, Cadance, Kayley and Kaydence. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Crump will be conducted on Saturday, February 12th at 2:00 p.m. in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with Pastor Cotton Ray officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Lawn Memorial Garden in Boone. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 11th from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
