Mrs. Mary Shook Caze, 101, passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, at Carillon Assisted Living in Harrisburg.

She was born Sept. 12, 1911, in Catawba County, the daughter of Charlie and Annie Bowman Shook. Raised by her aunt and uncle, C.J. and Molly Shook, she was of the Methodist faith, a member and former secretary of the UMW and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. She retired from Warlong Knitting after over 50 years of service.

Mary enjoyed church work, gardening, cooking and making lap quilts. A good Christian southern lady, she is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin H. Caze; two sisters, Winnie Pope and Grace Burrus Morrow; four brothers, Arthur, Charles, Brittian and Harold Shook; and nephew, David Shook.

Survivors include a stepdaughter, Bonnie Drury and husband, Ken, of Concord; a granddaughter, Michelle Summers, of Concord; a great-grandchild, Beau Summers, of Concord; a great-great-grandchild, Bradley Summers, of Concord; and nieces, Wilda Council, Doris Houser, Judy Buchanan and husband, Jan, Jewel Barger, Barbara Hollar, Iris Killian and Tamara Nadnott.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at Catawba Funerals and Cremations by the Rev. Dr. David Greene. Burial will follow in Catawba Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
