Beulah C. Slagle, 91, died Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005 in Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home, Marion.

She was a member of the Marion Baptist Church. She was very active in the Coffee Family History and in the Daniel Boone Historical Society and contributed research. She was a direct descendent of Daniel Boone.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Slagle, and a brother, C. Dean Coffey.

She is survived by a daughter, Marylyn Hall and husband, Marvin, of Newbury Park, Calif.; two sons, Jack Stamper and wife, Dorothy, of Crew and Donald Clarence Slagle and wife, Judith, of Johnson City, Tenn.; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005 at 2 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. Mark Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Marion. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.

Beulah attended and graduated at age 17 from Oak Hill Baptist Acadamy at Mouth of Wilson, Virginia.

After Henry Stamper died, Beulah and her young children moved to Marion, Va.

Beulah Snow Coffey and Clarence L. Slagle were married in 1942. Clarence L. Slagle, son of Wiley Washington Slagle and Cora M. Hawks, was born on 24 May 1917 in Wythe Co., VA. He lived with his parents in Black Lick, Wythe Co., VA on 5 June 1920. Clarence enlisted in the US Army on 4 August 1942 at Abingdon, Washington Co., VA.44330 Clarence died on 21 August 2005 at the age of 88 at Bristol Regional Medical Center in Bristol, Sullivan Co., TN and was buried at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Marion, Smyth Co., VA.44331,44332

Clarence L. Slagle, age 88, died August 21, 2005, in Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Slagle was a member of Marion Baptist Church. He was an army veteran of World War II in the Transportation Corps. and received a Bronze Star. He was retired from the Brunswick Corporation. Mr. Slagle was an organizer of the Brunswick Corporation Credit Union in 1952. He was a member of the Holtston Hills Country Club for over fifty years and was an avid Golfer. He was a member of VA Credit Union League and was a director and the chairman for 17 years. He had been a member of Marion Lion's Club since 1948 and was the district governor of District 24 F in 1972 & 1973.

Mr. Slagle is survived by his wife, Beulah C. Slagle of Marion, Virginia. One daughter, Marylyn Hall of Newberry Park, California. Two sons, Jack Stamper of Crew, Virginia, and Donald Clarence Slagle of Johnson City, Tennessee. Two sisters, Joan Tucker of Marion, Virginia, and Frances Chaffins of Richmond, Virginia. One brother, Hugh Slagle of Marion, Virginia. He had six grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. Mark Ross officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery in Marion, Virginia where the Francis Marion VFW Post # 4667 will conduct the military burial service. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service is serving the Slagle Family.
