Virgil L. Day, 97, of George Hayes Road, Boone, died Friday afternoon, June 8, 2012, at Blowing Rock Hospital. Mr. Day was born December 20, 1914, in Watauga County. He was the son of the late Millard Winfield Day and Nancy Isabella Coffey Day.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Grace Day Walker; one son, John Edward Day; a son-in-law, Leslie Walker; two sisters, Eulah Day Greene and Annie Day; and three brothers, Leon, Raymond and Gordon Day.

Mr. Day is survived by his wife, Pearl Storie Day, of the home; one daughter, Faye Day, of Boone; three grandsons, John E. "Jack" Day Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Lenoir, Charles M. Day and wife, Ginger, of Boone, Andrew Day and wife, Lesley, of Cary; seven great-grandsons, John C. Day of Germany, Dillion Day of Boone, Landon Day of Boone, Jared Roberts of Crescent City, IL, Jake Day of Cary, Ethan Cassavaugh and Kelsey Cassavaugh both of Lenoir; two great-granddaughters, Stefanie Day of Germany and Griffin Day of Cary. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Virgil L. Day were conducted 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, 2012, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body lay in state from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the chapel. Officiating was the Rev. Harold Hayes. Burial followed in the Moore Family Cemetery.

The family received friends 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Flowers were appreciated or memorials may be made to the Moore Family Cemetery Fund, in care of Faye Day, 2381 George Hayes Road, Boone, NC 28607, or to the Activity Fund of the Blowing Rock Extended Care, P.O. Box 8, Blowing Rock, NC 28605.

Mrs. Pearl Storie Day, 92, of 2381 George Hayes Road, Boone, died Saturday April 20, 2013, at Blowing Rock Extended Care.

Mrs. Day was born May 9, 1920, in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Jather "Jake" Clingman Storie and Nora Moore Storie. She was a retired employee and group leader of IRC/TRW of Boone and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church.

Mrs. Day is survived by one daughter, Faye Day of Boone; three grandchildren, John E. "Jack" Day, Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Lenoir, Charles M. Day and wife, Ginger, of Boone, and Andrew Day and wife, Lesley, of Cary, and nine great-grandchildren, John C. Day and Stephanie Day of Germany, Dillon Day and Landon Day of Boone, Jared Roberts of Crescent City, Ill., Jake Day and Griffin Day of Cary, and Ethan Cassavaugh and Kelsey Cassavaugh of Lenoir. She is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 75 years, Virgil L. Day; a daughter, Grace Day Walker; a son, John Edward Day; a son-in-law, Leslie Walker; three sisters, Erie Triplett and Illa Yates and an infant sister; and two brothers, Conley and Charlie Storie.

Funeral services for Mrs. Pearl Storie Day will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 10 to 11am. Officiating will be the Rev. Harold Hayes. Burial will follow in the Moore Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday prior to the service at Hampton Funeral Service.

Marie Faye Day, 73, of Boone passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at Blowing Rock Hospital. 

Faye was born April 25, 1940, in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Virgil and Pearl Storie Day. She was a self-employed hairdresser, and a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church. 

Faye is survived by three nephews, John E. "Jack" Day Jr. and wife, Cindy, of Lenoir, Charles M. Day and wife, Ginger, of Boone, and Andrew Day and wife, Lesley, of Cary; and nine great-nieces and great-nephews, John C. Day and Stephanie Day of Germany, Dillion and Landon Day of Boone, Jared Roberts of Crescent City, Ill., Jake Day And Griffin Day of Cary, and Ethan Cassavaugh and Kelsey Cassavaugh of Lenoir. 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Grace Day Walker; one brother, John Edward Day; and one brother-in-law, Leslie Walker. 

Funeral services for Marie Faye Day will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, July 26, 2013, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state at the chapel from 10 to 11 a.m. Officiating will be the Rev. Harold Hayes. Burial will follow in the Moore Family Cemetery.
