1552. Perry Coffey was born circa 1864 in North Carolina. Perry went to trial on 7 March 1895 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC for the murder of his brother John Drury Coffey. He was convicted 19 March 1895 and sentenced to 20 years in the penitentiary.5665,5666

An Important Witness Found Dead

Winston, March 6.--Perry Coffey is to be tried in Wilkes court this week for murdering his own brother last fall. Joseph Roberts, the most important witness for the State was found dead in his wagon near North Wilkesboro yesterday. Coffey hills his brother with a stick.

It is said that he escaped prison 18 months after conviction and was never recaptured.
Perry died in North Carolina in May 1902 and was buried at Joshua Coffey Family Cemetery in Fairplains, Wilkes Co., NC in May 1902 .5667
