Robert Franklin Roberson, son of Moses Roberson and Isabell Hasting, was born circa 1907 in North Carolina. Robert died in Greensboro, Guilford Co., NC on 10 November 1948 of a crushed chest and was buried at Oak Grove Moravian Gods Acre in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC on 13 November 1948 .15188

Prisoner Succumbs To Injuries Here

Frank Roberson of Winston-Salem, 44-year-old Sandy Ridge Prison Camp Inmate, was crushed to death uder the wheels of a truck at 8:20 a.m. yesterday.

Prison officials and highway patrolmen said Roberson and several other prisoners were riding in the vehicle on the way to work when the mishap occurred.

As the truck approached the Southern Railway crossing near the intersection on Route 421 and Lindsay Road, a train blew its whistle. Some of the prisoners, unable to see through the fog, became panicky and leaped from the truck.

Officers said Roberson fell beneath the truck's rear wheel, which crushed his chest. He was dead on arrrival at Piedmont Memorial Hospital. The body was sent to Winston-Salem last night. Names of survivors were unavailable here.

Prison officials said the victim was serving a 4-to-11-year sentence, imposed in November of 1946, on a larceny charge.

Funeral arrancements are incomplete.
