2065. James Martin Coffey was born in 1834 in Owen Co., IN.2167 James died in Syracuse, Morgan Co., MO 1 8 Dec 1861.1652,2167

James Martin may not be the son of Amos, but could be the son of Alfred Martin Coffey. See Coffey Cousins' newsletter, March, 1995 and Dec., 1997. Reported to CC by Karen Baumann, PO Box 415, Hammond, IN 46325-0415.

Karen wrote that James died Dec. 16, 1861 in Syracuse, MO and is buried in the Stout-Houston Cemetery. He married Margaret on Jan. 31, 1855 in Monroe Co., IN. James' parents were Ison and Martha "Patsy" Smock Coffey. Karen descends from James and Margaret through their son Samuel W. and Mary Pugh Coffey. The correction contained in the Dec., 1997 issue of CC concluded that James Martin was the son of Alfred, and not of Amos. Children of James and Margaret were William, Lydia, Samuel W., Ellsworth "Eli"; and John A. "Johnny."

Irrespective of this info, James does appear in the household with his mother in the 1850 Owen Co., IN census.
