Little more than two months after his wife had died July 16, John Hughes, age 74, retired laborer and former resident of Bloomington, succumbed at 2:45 p. m. Tuesday to a cerebral hemorrhage at the home of a daughter in Martinsville.

Mr. Hughes had lived on east Smith avenue in Bloomington for many years, but at the death of wife, Jennie, he went to Martinsville to live with a daughter, Mrs. George Poppino.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p. m. Thursday from the Cure and Hensley funeral home at Martinsville, in charge of the Rev. Glenn Tudor. Interment will be at the Clear Creek cemetery. Friends may view the body at the funeral home until time for the services.

Four daughters survive Mr. Hughes. They are Mrs. Lydia Hacker, of Bloomington; Mrs. George Poppino and Mrs. George Reynolds, of Martinsville, and Mrs. Reatha Valentine, of Stinesville. Fifteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services were held at 1 p. m. today from the Cure and Hensley funeral home at Martinsville for John Hughes, age 74, former Bloomington resident, who succumbed Tuesday to a cerebral hemorrhage at the home of a daughter in Martinsville. The Rev. Glenn Tudor was in charge of services, and interment was at the Clear Creek cemetery.

Mr. Hughes, who had lived on east Smith avenue in Bloomington for many years, made his residence with a daughter, Mrs. George Poppino, of Martinsville, following the death of his wife, Jennie, July 16.

Survivors are four daughters, Mrs. Lydia Hacker, of Bloomington, Mrs. George Poppino and Mrs. George Reynolds, of Martinsville, and Mrs. Reatha Valentine, of Stinesville. Fifteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren also survive.
