Newell was a sergeant in Co. L of the US 11th Infantry during the Spanish-American War.
He appeared in the census on 11 June 1900 at Port of San Juan, Commanding General & Staff Hq Dept. in San Juan, Puerto Rico.11037 Newel died at Wadsworth VA Hospital in Leavenworth, Leavenworth Co., KS on 16 December 1964 and was buried at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Franklin Co., KS in December 1964 .11038

Veatch, was born on 28 February 1869 in Louisiana. Ida died in Franklin Co., KS in 1937 and was buried at Lane Cemetery in Lane, Franklin Co., KS in 1937 .11044
