Rev. Coffey Dies Sunday

The Rev. Harley Clint Coffey, 68, of 111 South Haven Street, Lenoir, died at 10:10 a.m. Sunday in N.C. Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem.

Coffey was born in Caldwell County July 15, 1903 to the late Jesse and Julia Hollifield Coffey.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Myrtle Andrews Coffey; two daughters; Mrs. Leon Silver of Blowing rock and Mrs. William Parsons of Granite Falls; two brothers Glenn Coffey of Taylorsville and Tom Coffey of Blowing Rock; three sisters, Mrs. Pearl Hatton of Blowing Rock, Mrs. Anna McRaye of Linville and Mrs. Ella Smith of Morganton; and nine grandchildren.

Coffey was a Baptist minister for 30 years and had been pastor of churches in Caldwell, Watauga and Avery Counties.

The funeral was conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Hill Baptist Church, Caldwell County, by the Rev. H. L. McDuffey and the Rev. Larry Cline.

Burial was in the church cemetery.

Dovie died in Globe Twp., Caldwell Co., NC on 16 June 1928 of dysentery and was buried at McLean Cemetery in Yadkin Valley, Caldwell Co., NC on 17 June 1928 .34415,34416

Myrtle died on 13 November 1979 at the age of 69 in Valdese, Burke Co., NC and was buried at Temple Baptist Church Cemetery in Granite Falls, Caldwell Co., NC on 15 November 1979.34419,34420,34421

Myrtle A. Coffey

Mrs. Myrtle Andrews Coffey, 69, Route 4, Granite Falls, died Tuesday night in Valdese hospital.

She was born March 19, 1910 in Watauga County and was a daughter of the late William and Monarchy Shook Andrews. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. H. C. Coffey. She was a member of Temple Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Leon (Claudine) Silver of Blowing Rock and Mrs. William (Maxine) Parsons of Granite Falls; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Hardy Andrews of Hudson, and Lonnie and Max Andrews, both of Granite Falls; and three sisters, Miss Mae Belle Andrews and Mrs. Troy (Ruby) Townsend, both of Hudson, and Mrs. Gene (Elda) Berry of Lenoir.

The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Temple Hill Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Rev. J. D. Grasp. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to services. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will be at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock.
