Edgar Truett Coffey, 83, of West Hillcrest Drive, Mountain City, TN, and formerly of Watauga County, went home to be with his Lord Sunday morning, August 12, 2012. Truett was born August 15, 1928, in Valle Crucis, N.C. to William Harston and Nila Adline Rowe Coffey. He was a charter member of Clark's Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Coffey retired as the body shop foreman at Mack Brown Chevrolet in Boone. He served his country in the US Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Coffey is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joyce Greene Coffey; three daughters, Samra Renfro of the home, Sarah Richardson of Lenoir, and Elaine McGuire and husband, Eugene, of Vilas; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; and one sister, Gertrude Isaacs of Banner Elk. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Warren Bruce Coffey; granddaughter, Sandra Ward; great-grandson, Aaron Bradley Morrison; brother, Bynum Coffey; two sisters, Reba Townsend and Lucille Byrd; and one nephew, Robert Coffey.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012, at Clark's Creek Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Daniel Trantham, the Rev. Zane Tester and the Rev. Mike Townsend. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m. prior to services Monday, at Clark's Creek Baptist Church. Burial, with Military Honors provided by the American Legion Post 130 will follow in the Clark's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Joyce Greene Coffey, 78, of West Hillcrest Drive, Mountain City, Tenn., went home to be with her Lord on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012. Born May 5, 1934, in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Robert and Lillie Dishman Greene. Joyce was a life long member of Clark's Creek Baptist Church. She loved to cook for her family and friends, and her favorite pastime was sewing and stitching. Mrs. Coffey retired from the NC License Plate Agency in Boone.

She is survived by three daughters, Samra Renfro of the home, Sara Richardson of Lenoir, and Elaine McGuire and husband, Eugene, of Vilas; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter; three sisters, Rachael Townsend and husband, Bill, and Lois Ann Hodges, all of Valle Crucis, and Lucille Smith and husband, Homer, of Salisbury; and one brother, Roy Lee Greene and wife, Betty, of Salisbury. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Truett; son, Warren Coffey; granddaughter, Sandra Joyce Ward; great-grandson, Aron Bradley Morrison; and three brothers, Lawrence, Willis, and Wayne Greene.

Funeral services were conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Clark's Creek Baptist Church in Banner Elk, officiated by Pastor Daniel Trantham, the Rev. Zane Tester and the Rev. Mike Townsend. The family received friends Sunday from 1:30 to 3 p.m. prior to services, at the church. Burial followed in the Clark's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Warren Bruce “Possum” Coffey, 51, of West Hillcrest Drive, Mountain City, Tenn., and former resident of Watauga Country, died Friday afternoon, June 17, 2005, at his home.

He was born May 11, 1954 in Watauga County, a son of Truett and Joyce Greene Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was a member of Clark’s Creek Baptist Church and was a truck driver for Lovett Trucking Company in Wilkesboro.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Samra Renfro and husband, David, of Elizabethton, Tenn., Sarah Richardson of Lenoir and Elaine McGuire and husband, Eugene, of Vilas; one niece, Nila McGuire of Vilas; and five nephews, Steven Ward of Boone, Michael Ward of Sumter, S.C., Truett Ward of Lenoir, Chad McGuire of Banner Elk and Jason McGuire of Vilas. A number of great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harston and Nila Coffey; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Lillie Greene; one niece, Sandra Ward; and one great-nephew, Aaron Bradley Ward.

Services will be conducted Monday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Zane Tester, the Rev. R.D. Watson, and the Rev. Mike Townsend. Burial will follow in the Clark’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
