They were divorced on 29 January 1964 in Watauga Co., NC.45139 Ralph Grady "Bud" Coffey, son of Charles Alexander Coffey and Julia Evelyn Knight, was born on 16 March 1927 in Watauga Co., NC.45140 Ralph registered for the WW2 draft on 16 March 1945 in Boone, Watauga Co., NC.45141 Ralph enlisted in the US Army on 29 June 1945 at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.45142 Ralph died on 4 September 2005 at the age of 78 in Fresno, Coshocton Co., OH and was buried at White Springs Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC.45143,45144

Ralph G. ‘Bud’ Coffey

Mr. Ralph G. “Bud” Coffey, 78, of Fresno, Ohio, a former resident of Caldwell County, died Sept. 4, 2005, in Ohio.

He was born in Caldwell County to the late Charlie and Julia Knight Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his children, Robert Coffey and Sharon Wilson of Lenoir, Clarice Cannon, Ralph Hartson of Banner Elk, and Dean Coffey of Newland, Lori Pennington, JoAnn Roup, Patricia Coffey and Eddie Coffey, all of Ohio; two sisters, Martha Stapleton and Effie Coffey, both of Lenoir.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Military graveside services will be conducted Saturday, June 3, 2006, at 2 p.m. at White Springs Cemetery.

Austin & Barnes Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Coffey family.

Estelle Gertrude Coffey and Charles G. Isaacs were married circa 1965. Charles G. Isaacs was born on 14 May 1922 in North Carolina. This may be the Charles Greer Isaacs, born c1922 in North Carolina but found in Lockland, Hamilton Co., OH in the 1940 census. Charles G. had a son, Robert Charles Coffey, born in Banner Elk, Avery Co., NC on 6 May 1947.45138 Charles died in North Carolina on 21 March 1996 and was buried at Calvary Episcopal Church Cemetery in Fletcher, Henderson Co., NC in March 1996 .45148

Robert C. Coffey, 63, of Hudson, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010, at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Coffey was an Avery County reserve deputy. He was the son of Gertrude Coffey Isaacs of Banner Elk and the late Charles Coffey [sic] [Isaacs].

Coffey was a sergeant in the U.S. Marines and was a veteran of the Vietnam conflict.

After his service in Vietnam, Coffey worked at various law enforcement agencies over the years, including the Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department, the Rutherford Sheriff's Office, and the Caldwell County Sheriff's Office.

Coffey was most recently employed as the security manager at Broyhill Furniture Industries and was a reserve deputy in Avery County since 2003.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday, Jan. 2, at Community Baptist Church in Lenoir. Burial followed with full military honors at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family received friends Saturday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home.
