Doyle R. Coffey, 89, of Hartland Road, Lenoir, died Sunday, June 6, 2010, at Valley Nursing Center.

He was born April 10, 1921, in Cherokee County, N.C., to the late Lanny and Ethel Lovelace Coffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Everhart Coffey of the home; one son, Jim A. Coffey of the home; and one granddaughter, Bridgett Plunk of Sawmills.

Mr. Coffey was retired from Broyhill Furniture and was a member of Gamewell United Methodist Church. He was also a United States World War II Army/Air Force veteran. During his service he flew 35 bombing missions over Germany.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Renee Easter. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers will be Tim Greene of Oak Hill and Dale Coffey of Hudson.

Ruth Everhart Coffey, 88, of Hartland Road, Lenoir, died Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015, at the residence. She was born Oct. 3, 1926, in Davie County to the late Clay and Ila May Everhart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle R. Coffey; four brothers; five sisters; and one great-grandchild, Nathan Plunk.

Mrs. Coffey was retired from Caldwell Community College. She was a member of College Avenue Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Jim A. Coffey of the home; and one granddaughter, Bridgett Plunk of Morganton.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Greer McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by the Rev. Uiyeon Kim. Entombment will be private at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens of Lenoir.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
