Davies of Greensboro seeks $16,000 from Lewis Monroe Coffey of Route 1, Blowing Rock, as result of a two-car accident Jan. 10, 1959, on Highway 421 near Boone. The complaint says Coffey was driving while under the influence of Alcohol. Lewis was a defendant in a suit brought about as result of automobile accident.35546

A suit for $15,800 for personal injury and $300 auto damages, brought by Jean M. Davis against Lewis Monroe Coffey, has been settled out of court, it was announced today. Lewis died on 5 December 2004 at the age of 75 in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC and was buried at White Springs Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 8 December 2004.35547,35548,35549

Lewis Coffey

Lewis Monroe Coffey, 75, of Main Street, Lenoir died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004 at his residence.

He was born Nov. 5, 1929 in Watauga County, N.C., to the late Thomas Newton Coffey and Ella Mae Loudermilk Coffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Aronzia Coffey, Epsey Gragg, Cordie Coffey, Zudie Haltey and Rosie Rich and two brothers, Arile Coffey and Abner Coffey.

Mr. Coffey retired from Broyhill Industries and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Jo Warren Coffey of the home; two sons, Charles Thomas Coffey of Hickory and Grady Allen Coffey of Lenoir; two daughters, Patricia Coffey Barnes of Sugar Grove, N.C. and Elizabeth Coffey Kidd of Lenoir; two brothers, Clinton Coffey of Lenoir and Johnny Ray Coffey of Lenoir; a sister, Dolly Coffey of Randleman, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 at 11:30 a.m. at White Springs Cemetery in Watauga County with the Rev. Dewey Bristol officiating.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2004 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Pendry's Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Junior Rich, Johnny Rich, Gaither Rich, Gary Dixon, Larry Coffey and Scott Coffey.

Pendry's Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

The 1930 census lists a daughter, Mary Lou, age 2 yrs., 1 mos. Lewis Monroe is not found in any census.

Lewis Monroe Coffey and Peggy Jo Warren were married. Peggy Jo Warren was born (date unknown).
