Roland C. Johnson was born on 9 November 1919 in Blowing Rock, Blue Ridge Twp., Watauga Co., NC. Roland died on 19 May 1990 at the age of 70 in Sugar Grove, Cove Creek Twp., Watauga Co., NC and was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC on 22 May 1990.

Mr. Ronald [sic] C. "Stumpy" Johnson, age 71, of Rush Branch Road, Sugar Grove, and a former resident of Blowing Rock, died Saturday, May 19th at his residence.

He was a native of Blowing Rock, born November 9, 1919, a son of the late Don and Carrie Hawthorne Johnson. He was a veteran of the United States Army with meritorious service in Korea and was a retired firefighters and paramedic with the Clearwater Florida Fire Department.

Mr. Johnson was a Mason and member of Snow Lodge #363, AF&AM in Boone.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Vines Johnson of the home; one daughter, Vickie Smith and friend, Buddy Carroll of Catawba, N.C.; three sons, Robert Johnson and wife, Stephanie of Blowing Rock, Michael Johnson and wife, Kelly of Suwanee, Georgia and David Johnson and wife, Denise of Holiday, Florida; and three grandchildren, Brian Smith, Megan Johnson and Christine Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Carrie Johnson and a brother, Steve Johnson.

Graveside services with Masonic rites were conducted on Tuesday, May 22, at the Woodland Cemetery in Blowing Rock.

Memorials may be considered to the Masonic Home for children, in care of Snow Lodge #363, P.O. Box 2672, Boone, N.C. 28607.

Austin & Barnes of Boone was in charge of the arrangements.

Donald Stephen "Don" Johnson and Hazel Evelyn Blalock were married. Hazel Evelyn Blalock, daughter of Columbus Filmore Blalock and Theodocia Coffey, was born on 8 December 1912 in North Carolina. She lived with her mother in Watauga Twp., Watauga Co., NC on 23 April 1940. Hazel died on 6 April 1984 at the age of 71 in Florida.34638
