KERNERSVILLE - Mr. Alfred N. Woods, 93, of 2090 West Mountain St. died Friday evening, July 31, 1998, at North Carolina Baptist Hospital.

Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3, 1998 at Pisgah United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lee Money and the Rev. John C. Woods officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was born Sept. 22, 1904 in Lenoir to Robert Amzy and Hannah Coffey Woods. He was a member of Pisgah United Methodist Church and former owner of Stokesdale Tire Recapping Co. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Hazel Newsome Woods on Nov. 17, 1997.

He is survived by two sons, Mr. Gwyn C. Woods and his wife, Maurice, and Mr. Robert G. Woods and his wife, Wanda, all of Kernersvillle; five grandchildren, Derek Woods, Ashhley Lawson, Melissa Truskowski, Jeffrey Shinault and Angie Shinault, all of Kernersville; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Woods, Brody Lawson and Zachary Branon, all of Kernersville.

The family will receive friends on Sunday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Pierce Funeral Home.

Alfred Newton Woods and Hazel Newsome Wilson were married. Hazel Newsome Wilson was born on 22 February 1909. Hazel died in North Carolina on 17 November 1997 and was buried at Pisgah UMC Cemetery in Kernersville, Forsyth Co., NC in November 1997 .³¹⁶¹⁵
