Lorene Goodwin

Lorene C. Goodwin, 65, of Bryant Road, Drexel, died Thursday, April 30, 1992 at her residence.

She was born June 22, 1926, in Avery County, a daughter of Annie Lee Crump Coffey of Morganton and the late McKinley Coffey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Odell Raymond Goodwin.

Mrs. Goodwin retired from Drexel-Heritage Furniture Co. in 1989.

Survivors include her stepfather, Wheeler Coffey of Morganton; two daughters, Sheila Hayes of Lenoir and Shelby Lingle of Morganton; one brother, Charlie Cline Coffey of Beech Mountain; three sisters, Mallie Christine Clarke and Vergie Pauline Sprouse, both of Morganton, and Shirley Jean Burse of Spruce Pine; one grandchild; and one stepgrandchild.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Colonial chapel of Sossoman's Funeral Home in Morganton. Burial will follow in Calloway Cemetery on Lone Ridge Road [sic] [Old Jonas Ridge Road] in Newland [sic] [Pineola]..

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at Sossoman's Funeral Home.

Lorene Sarah Coffey and Odell Raymond Goodwin were married. Odell Raymond Goodwin, son of Jessie Odell Goodwin and Sarah Hall, was born on 22 February 1930 in North Carolina. Odell died of cardiac arrest on 5 April 1973 at the age of 43 and was DOA at Catawba Valley Memorial Hospital in Hickory, Catawba Co., NC. He was buried at Fairview Cemetery in Hickory, Catawba Co., NC on 7 April 1973.^35313,35314
