Joe Coffey

Joe Cleveland Coffey, 81, of Route 4, Boone, died Monday, April 25, 1994 at his residence.

He was born Aug. 19, 1912 in Caldwell County to the late William and Bessie Townsend Coffey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Bessie Townsend Coffey; and one sister, Lula Church.

Mr. Coffey was a retired farmer and rock mason.

Survivors include one son, Jimmy Coffey of Boone; three sisters, Nancy Coffey of Boone, Ruth Coffey of Blowing Rock and Cora Lee Greer of Lenoir; and four brothers, Tom Coffey of Laytown, Troy Coffey, John Coffey and Jack Coffey, all of Boone.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at White Springs Cemetery in Watauga County.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7 until 8:30 at Hampton Funeral Service in Boone.

Joseph Cleveland "Joe" Coffey and Bessie Townsend were married. Bessie Townsend, daughter of John Lawson Townsend and Malinda Elizabeth Arnett, was born on 16 January 1917. Bessie died on 29 December 1985 at the age of 68 in North Carolina and was buried at Boone Fork Community Cemetery in Blowing Rock, Watauga Co., NC.35406,35407
