Ira Coffey

Ira Edwin Coffey, 63, of 2513 Crest Lane, Granite Falls, died Saturday, June 12, 1993 at the residence.

He was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Caldwell County to Mrs. Allie Philyaw Coffey of Blowing Rock and the late Wesley P. Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was retired from Clement Brothers Construction Co. and was a U.S. Navy veteran.

In addition to his mother, Mr. Coffey is survived by his wife, Elsie Harmon Coffey of the home; three sons, Donald Harmon and Glenn Dale Coffey, both of Virginia and Gary E. Coffey of Asheville; two daughters, Karen M. Coffey of Granite Falls and Mrs. Joel (Sarah) Baker of Hudson; two brothers, William Coffey of Collettsville and Claude Coffey of Lenoir; and five grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. today at Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Phil Duncan officiating.

Greer-McElveen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Elsie Mae Harmon, daughter of Philo Shafter Harmon and Sarah Irene Ford, was born on 23 February 1925 in Caldwell Co., NC.45736 Elsie died at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 28 April 2014 and a Memorial Service was held in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC at Evans Funeral Service Chapel on 30 April 2014.45737,45738

Elsie Coffey

Elsie Harmon Coffey, 89, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014, at Caldwell Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on Feb. 23, 1925, to the late Philo Harmon and Sarah Ford Harmon.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Ira Edwin Coffey; brothers, Ellis Harmon, Alseen Harmon, Willard Harmon, Dillard Harmon, John Harmon, Bobby Harmon; and sisters, Barbara Justice and Irene Jones.

Mrs. Coffey is survived by her sons, MacDonald Harmon, Gary Coffey, Dale Coffey; daughter, Karen Coffey and partner, Sherry Robbins; daughter, Sarah Baker and partner, James Triplett; grandchildren, Mandy Harmon, Stacy Burgess and husband, Chris, Willy Baker and wife, Casey, Cheryl Coffey and partner, Bill Gulda, Wesley Coffey, Chelsea Baker; great-grandchildren, Aidan Burgess, Kaylee Burgess, Jaxon Burgess, Laney Baker, and Skylar Gulda.

A memorial service for Mrs. Coffey will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 5 with Pastor Marvin Ford officiating.

The family will receive friends from 4 until 5 prior to the service.

Gary Coffey

Gary Edwin "Redneck" Cof fey, 62, of Hendersonville, formerly of Granite Falls, passed away on Nov. 11, 2016 after a brief illness.

He was born to the late Ira and Elsie Coffey on April 14, 1954. He had a special love for motorcycles and ATVs. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wesley and Allie Coffey, and Philo and Sarah Harmon; and a brother, McDonald Harmon.

He is survived by his sisters, Karen Coffey (Partner Sherry Robbins) and Sarah Baker (Companion James Triplett); a brother, Dale Cof fey; nieces, Stacy Burgess, Cheryl Coffey, Mandy Harmon and Chelsea Baker; nephews, Willy Baker, and Wesley Cof fey; and his "Angel," Susan Finney.

A memorial service celebrating Gary's life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016, at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Tommy Coffey officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the funeral home.
