Clarence Coffey

Clarence Alexander Coffey, 87, of Route 13, Lenoir, died Thursday, July 27, 1995 at Valdese General Hospital.

He was born Dec. 7, 1907 in Caldwell Co. to the late Roby James Coffey and Nealie Hagaman [sic] Coffey. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Linny Coffey.

Mr. Coffey was a retired sawmiller and member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sarah Verlee Bryant Coffey of the home; five sons, Ray lee Coffey of Granite Falls, James Wilson Coffey, Walter Wayne Coffey, Donald Raymond Coffey and Charles Alex Coffey, all of Lenoir; one brother, Frank Coffey of Lenoir; two sisters, Epsie Greene and Gracie Smith, both of Lenoir; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at Pendry's Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Ted Williams and Tommy James officiating. Burial will be in the Pisgah baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends tonight from 6 until 8:30 at the funeral home.

Sarah V. Coffey

Lenoir - Sarah Verlee Coffey, 99, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2006, at Gateway Nursing Center, Lenoir.

She was born July 27, 1906, in Caldwell county, to the late Wilson Bradshaw Bryant and Nora Townsend Bryant. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence A. Coffey; a granddaughter; three brothers; and two sisters.

Mrs. Coffey was a member of Harrisburg Baptist Church.

Survivors include five sons, James W. Coffey, W. Wayne Coffey and wife, Beulah, the Rev. D. Raymond Coffey and wife, Iris, and Charles Alex Coffey and wife, Betty, of Lenoir, and Roy L. Coffey and wife, Odena, of Granite Falls; a brother, Clarence E. Bryant, or Lenoir; two sisters, Viola B. Bean of Hickory, and May Opal B. Koone, of Blowing Rock; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today, June 9, 2006, at 5 p.m., in the Pendry's Chapel with the Revs. Ted Williams and Raymond Coffey officiating. Burial will follow in the Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.

Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood St., Lenoir, N.C. 28645.

James Coffey

James Wilson Coffey, 80, of Pisgah Church Rd. Lenoir, passed away Thursday, Oct. 30, 2008 at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.

Mr. Coffey was born Oct. 17, 1928 in Caldwell County to the late Clarence Coffey and Sarah Bryant Coffey. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict and was a member of Temple Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother Roy Lee Coffey.

Survivors include his sons; Donald Coffey and wife Willa, Buddy Coffey and wife Brenda, Willie Coffey, Michael Coffey and wife Angie all of Lenoir and David Coffey and wife JoAnn of Taylorsville, his daughter; Linda Coffey Helms of Hickory, 22 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and his brothers; Wayne Coffey and wife Buelah, Alex Coffey and wife Betty and Raymond Coffey and wife Iris all of Lenoir.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials may be made to the Shelter Home of Caldwell County at P.O. Box 426, Lenoir NC 28645.

Pendry's Funeral Home & Crematory, Lenoir, N.C. is assisting the family with arrangements.
