He was born Oct. 29, 1920, in Big Stone Gap, Va., to the late James Perry Coffey and Bertha Noblett Coffey. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mossie Coffey. Mr. Coffey was retired from Fairfield Furniture. Survivors include two daughters, Bertha McMahan of Sawmills and Gladys Justus of Big Stone Gap; one stepdaughter, Hattie Rumfelt of Lenoir; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. The funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. W. D. Massingale and Clifton Harmon officiating. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and tonight from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the home of Paul and Brenda Coffey, 4502 Diamond St., Hudson.
