Evelyn C. Hollifield, age 80, resident of 205 Park Drive, Kings Mountain, NC died October 24, 2007 at her home. She was born in Avery Co. NC. She was the daughter of the late Hardy Coffey and Lillie Gray Coffey. She was the wife of the late Earl D. Hollifield. She was also preceded in death one brother and four sisters. She was a homemaker and a great Mom.

SURVIVORS: Sons: E. Morgan Hollifield and wife Debbie D., Atlanta, GA Winston "Skip" Hollifield and wife Angela, Kings Mtn. NC Sister: Eva Keller, Elk Park, NC 6 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Special Friends: Gene Langley, Scott Chamberlain, Tim Pinson, and Chris Moss.

Evelyn Estelle Coffey and Earl Dewey Hollifield were married. Earl Dewey Hollifield was born circa 1925 in Spruce Pine, Mitchell Co., NC. Earl died on 16 February 2004 at the age of 79 in Shelby, Cleveland Co., NC and was buried at Tanglewood Cemetery in Linville, Avery Co., NC.36795

Earl D. Hollifield

Earl D. Hollifield, 79, of 205 Park Drive, Kings Mountain, died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center in Shelby.

He was born in Spruce Pine, a son of the late Grady and Hattie Dale Hollifield. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Hollifield and a sister, Gladys Cox. He was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church, Spruce Pine, a former member of Kings Mountain Rescue Squad for nine years and was retired from Foote Mineral Co., Kings Mountain. He served in the United States Army as a medic during World War II and received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Evelyn C. Hollifield of Kings Mountain; sons, Morgan Hollifield and wife, Debbie, of Atlanta and Skip Hollifield and wife, Angie, of Kings Mountain; brother, Frank Hollifield and wife, Jackie, of Kings Mountain; sisters, Grace Williams of Spruce Pine and Mildred Brown and husband, Kenneth, of Hickory; sister-in-law, Susie Mae Hollifield of Spruce Pine; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Tanglewood Cemetery in Linville with the Rev. Ronnie Pyatte officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Harris Funeral Home in Kings Mountain.
