Fatally Knifed in Sunday Fight

Watauga County Man Bleeds to Death Following Affray on Highway

Boone, Feb. 16.--(AP)--One man was slain and three were arrested as the result of an afray near Blowing Rock today. John Gragg, who lives near Boone, was stabbed fatally and Sherman Henderson, of the Boone Fork community of Watauga County, is being held in the county jain here as the alleged slayer. Floyd Church and Carl Davis are held as eye-witnesses to the slaying.

Henderson, according to officers was walking home from Sunday school this morning when he met Gragg, who was riding in a truck accompanied by Church and Davis. Gragg and Henderson, officers said, immediately got into an argument over some matter, and the stabbing followed/ Gragg was cut in the back and an artery in his leg was severed.

His companions placed him on the truck and started for the hospital at Boone, but he bled to death before the hospital was reached.

John Albert Gragg and Jennie were married. Jennie was born (date unknown).
