Myrtle Lyda

Myrtle Viola Coffey Lyda, 88, of Main Street, Hudson, died Thursday, March 13, 2003, at Caldwell County Hospice.

She was born May 26, 1914, in Avery County to the late Grover C. and Cora Gragg Coffey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Avery Jerome Lyda, and three sisters, Essallene Gragg, Louria McLean and Florence Eckard.

She was retired from Shuford Mills after 30 years of service and was of Baptist faith.

Survivors include a son, Everett V. Coffey of Debary, Fla.; three daughters, Jo Wilson of Granite Falls, Revonda M. Miller of Lenoir and Dolly Lynn Gallucci of Oxford, Pa.; one brother, Eugene V. Coffey of Hudson; one sister, Mary Belle Bumgarner of Granite Falls; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

The funeral is 3 p.m. Sunday at Granite Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. John Barnhardt officiating. Burial will follow in East Hudson Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, and other times at 632 Main St., Hudson.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.

Myrtle Viola Coffey and Avery Jerome Lyda were married. Avery Jerome Lyda was born on 9 June 1915 in North Carolina. Avery died in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 11 March 1992.45315
