Death Claims Mrs. Berry

Mrs. Clara Ethel Berry, 70, 112 Ervin Avenue, Lenoir, died Thursday at 9:40 p.m. at her home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Boone Fork Advent Christian Church in Watauga County. Rev. Marshall Setzer will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery. The body was taken from Lenoir Funeral Home to the residence at 5 p.m. today. It will lie in state at the church for 30 minutes prior to the rites.

Born in Watauga County, she was a daughter of the late J. F. and Mattie Story Coffey.

Surviving are her husband, Hardy H. Berry; one son, Clarence Berry of Lenoir; two grandchildren; two half-sisters, Miss Eva Mae Coffey of Hickory and Mrs. George Williams of Johnson City, Tenn.; and one half-brother, Sanford Coffey of Banner Elk.

Hardy H. Berry, 88, Route 1, Banner Elk, died Sunday following an extended illness.

He was born Sept. 4, 1888 in Watauga County and was the son of the late Calvin and Katie Icard Berry. He was proceeded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ethel Coffey Berry.

Surviving is a son, Clarence H. Berry of Lenoir; two grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Pendry's Lenoir Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Fred Barnes. Burial will be in Boone's Fork Cemetery.

Members of the family will be at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 o'clock.
