Mr. Everette Coffey, age 84, of Hill Street, Blowing Rock, died Tuesday morning, November 29, 2011 at Watauga Medical Center. Born October 12, 1927 in Caldwell County he was a son of the late Fred and Mary Octavia Loudermelt [sic] Coffey. Mr. Coffey was a retired Postal Clerk and a US Army Veteran of WWII. Everette was an avid golfer.

He is survived by two daughters; Karen Coffey Kent and husband Joe Kent, Jr., of Marietta Georgia, Viki Coffey Penneman and husband Dean of Albuquerque, New Mexico, two grandsons; Joey and Michael Kent, a number of nieces and nephews, and his beloved cat Cricket. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth “Toni” Lentz Coffey, two sisters; Ola Church and Mary Hazel Miles and two brothers; George and Roy Coffey.

Graveside services and burial for Mr. Everette Coffey will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock at Woodlawn Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Lynn Stall. Military graveside rites will be presented by American Legion Post 130. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church Street, Suite 336M, Charlotte, NC 28202 or to the American Heart Association, PO Box 5216, Glen Allen, Virginia 23058-5216 or to the American Lung Association, 3801 Lake Boone Trail, Suite 190, Raleigh, NC 27607.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:30 until 8 o’clock at Austin & Barnes Funeral Home.

Mrs. Elizabeth "Toni" Lentz Coffey, 70, of Hill Street, Blowing Rock, died Sunday afternoon, April 27, 2003.

She was born April 28, 1932 in Caldwell County, a daughter of the late William and Elizabeth "Lib" Suddreth Lentz. Mrs. Coffey was a homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Everette Coffey; two daughters, Karen C. Kent and husband, Joe W. Kent, Jr. of Marietta, Ga. and Viki Coffey of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandsons, Joey and Michael Kent of Marietta, Ga.; one sister, Barbara Lentz Wright of Blowing Rock; and one brother, William "Bill" Lentz, Jr. of North Wilkesboro.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock, officiated by the Rev. Francis "Pug" Greene.
