Louise Rhodes

Louise Robbins Rhodes, 83, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Frye Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Rhodes was born Sept. 29, 1924, in Caldwell County to the late George and Ida Norman Coffey. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 13 years Lloyd “Buck” Rhodes; her first husband, Richard Lewis Robbins; her granddaughter, Joy Walker; four brothers and two sisters.

She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, a loving wife, wonderful mother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her daughters, Sue Owens and husband Earl of Hudson, Chuckie Walker Baldwin and husband Gary of Hudson, Mary Robbins of Lenoir, Angel Philyaw and husband Jeff of Collettsville, and Kathy Beard and husband Michael of Gamewell; her sons, Clayton Robbins and wife Carolyn of Collettsville, Dayton Robbins and wife Evelyn of Lenoir, Johnny Robbins and wife Nelda of Lenoir, Tommy Robbins and wife Diane of Whitnel, and Paul Robbins and wife Barbara of Whitnel; her sister, Marsha Lee Barnes of Denver; her brother, Shufford Coffey and wife Evelyn of Lenoir; 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services for Mrs. Rhodes will be Thursday, Jan. 31 at Calvary Baptist Church at 2 p.m. with Dr. Alan Carr and the Rev. Ron Burgett officiating. Mrs. Rhodes will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Zack's Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Pendry's Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mark Robbins, Bobby Robbins, Richard Robbins, Marshall Robbins, Eugene Coffey and Richard McGaha. Honorary pallbearer will be Anthony Coffey.

Pendry's Funeral Home and Crematory, Lenoir, N.C., is assisting the family with arrangements.

Julia Louise Coffey and Richard Lewis Robbins were married circa 1940. Richard Lewis Robbins was born (date unknown).

This may be the son of Thomas S. and Matilda Lewis Robbins. However, the birth date of their son Richard and subsequent birth of the large number of children by Julia makes it problematic.

Tommy Robbins

Mr. Tommy R. Robbins, beloved husband and father, went home to be with his Lord, Sunday, April 13, 2008. He was 54.

Born Feb. 3, 1954, in Caldwell County, Mr. Robbins was a son of the late Richard L. and Louise Coffey Robbins; and the husband of Diane F. Robbins.

Tommy was a member of Bean's Creek Church of God and a “Master of Wood” carpenter.

Surviving, other than his wife, are his children, Chasity Elderth of Clarksville, Ga., Jeffery Reid and wife Debra of Granite Falls, Rebecca Gutierrez and husband Sylvester of Granite Falls, Junior Lamarne of Adrian, Mich., Geoff Ridenhour and fiancée, Rebecca Silvas of Lenoir; five sisters, Sue R. Owens and husband Earl, and Chuckie Baldwin and husband Gary, all of Hudson, Mary Robbins Cox and husband Jerry of Lenoir, Angel Philyaw and husband Jeff of Collettsville, and Kathy Beard and husband Michael of Gamewell; four brothers, Clayton Robbins and wife Carolyn of Collettsville, Dayton Robbins and wife Evelyn, Johnny Robbins and wife Nelda, and Paul Robbins Hall and wife Barbara, all of Lenoir; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Tommy's life will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2008, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. G.B. Garland, Dr. Alan Carr, Pastor Dayton Robbins and Dr. Richard McBurney officiating. Burial will follow in the Zack's Fork Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir.

Pallbearers will be Paul Robbins Hall, Charles Reid, Matthew Norris, Brandon Norris, Bobby Robbins, Mark Robbins Johnnie DeGiorgi and Joe Norris.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to Zack's Fork Baptist Church, c/o the Rev. Ronnie Watson, 2306 Howard Arnette Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
