Betty Hamby

Betty Ruth Coffey Hamby, 72, of Greenwood Drive, Lenoir, passed away March 31, 2005, at Grace Hospital. She was born May 23, 1932, to the late Joseph Dobbins Coffey and Nellie Robbins Coffey. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Mack Rexford Hamby; four brothers, Earl, Ward, Devon and Carl Coffey; and a sister, Christine Piercy.

She is survived by two sons, Garry B. Hamby of Lenoir and Robin M. Hamby and wife, Lisa of Radford, Va.; and a daughter, Gail Hamby Pennell and husband, Ronald of Lenoir. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Nick Hamby and Meredith H. Joder; and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Kelsey Hamby.

The family will receive friends from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, at Pendry's Funeral Home. The service will follow at 4 p.m. in Pendry's Chapel with the Rev. James Lee and Pastor James "Jimmy" Hamby officiating. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
