Mrs. Mattie DeGraffenreid, aged 52 years, died Sunday morning at two o'clock following an extended illness at her home, 204 6th Avenue north.

Funeral services were being held this afternoon at Drinkard-Howell funeral parlors, the service being conducted by Rev. Coffee. Interment followed at Roselawn cemetery, Drinkard-Howell directing the burial.

The following were pallbearers; N.C. Copeland, Robert Owen, Frank Minor, Charles Weaver, Alvie Bryant, John E. McMurray. The following handled the flowers: Mrs. N. C. Copeland, Mrs. Christine Weaver, Mrs. Robert Owen, Mrs. Alvie Bryant, Mrs. John E. McMurray and Mrs. James Gosline.

The deceased is survived by her husband, O. M. DeGraffenreid; one daughter, Mrs. E. S. Johnson, two sons, Murray and Theo, two grandchildren, three sisters and five brothers.

ORSON MURRAY DeGRAFFENRIED

O.M. (Old Timer) DeGraffenried, 87, 806 Cedar St, died Saturday night at a local hospital. Funeral services for the Lawrence County native will be announced later by Guntharp Funeral Home.

Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Florence DeGraffenried; two sons, Murry, of Decatur and Theo of Pensacola, Fla; a daughter, Mrs. Regina Backus, Fort Hood, Texas; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Gus Rombokas, Trinity; a foster son, W.K. Cartee, Decatur; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.


This surname has been found spelled several ways, most noteably Degraffenreid, Degraffenried, De Graffenried, DeGraffenreid and de Graffenried. I have chosen to use the latter.
