The ceremony was performed by Dr. Harold Shields in his study in Atlanta. Mrs. Coffey was educated at the North Avenue Presbyterian school in Atlanta and took a prominent part in scholastic and social activities. Dr. Coffey was graduated from the Atlanta Southern Dental college in the class of 1931 and is a member of Delta Sigma Delta national dental fraternity. Dr. Coffey is the son of Lemuel Theodore Coffey and the late Mrs. Cora Riddle Coffey of Burnsville, N. C. Dr. and Mrs. Coffey will leave Atlanta today for Morganton where they will make their home. Cecile Wood Coffey, 87, died on Sunday, March 8th after an extended illness at her residence in Morganton. She was predeceased in 1984 by her husband of 53 years, Dr. Ralph D. Coffey. Surviving are her son, Dr. R. Donald Coffey Jr. and Nancy Coffey of Raleigh; daughter, Ann Wing Coffey of Morganton; four grandchildren, including R.D. "Tripp" Coffey III and Lisa Coffey of Raleigh, Caroline Coffey Steadman and David Steadman of New York City; great-granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Coffey of Raleigh. A graveside service will be held on March 10th at Forest Hills Cemetery in Morganton. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Morganton, NC 28655.
