James E. Coffey

MILLERSBURG - James Edward "Red" Coffey, 75, of Millersburg, died Saturday at St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington.

Born March 1, 1930, in Garrard County, he was the son of the late Dewey and Eunice Gadd Coffey. He was a blaster, licensed by the Kentucky Department of Mines and Minerals Division of Explosives and Blasting. He retired from Bluegrass Contracting where he was a foreman and blaster and worked and retired from Kentucky Powder where he was a blaster. He was a member of Millersburg Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Cora Ham Coffey of Millersburg; two sons, Gary Coffey of Stanford and Donnie Coffey of Cynthiana; three stepsons, Daniel Dampier of Paris, Ronald Dampier of Lexington, and Michael Dampier of Cynthiana; a brother, Lloyd Coffey of Lexington; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pruitt Funeral Home in Millersburg by the Rev. Ben Curtis. Burial will be in Millersburg Cemetery.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today.

James Edward "Red" Coffey and Cora Ham were married. Cora Ham was born on 5 September 1945 in Kentucky.
