Roy Coffey, 58 [sic], passed away Tuesday, May 30th, in Columbus, Ohio.

He is survived by his wife, Ethel Coffey; two daughters, Margaret Lindon of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and Brenda Cooke of South Carolina; one son, Kenneth, with the U. S. Army, Fort Story, Virginia; two brothers, Boyce, Alexandria, Virginia and Leland, Louisville, Kentucky; two sisters, Mrs. Oliver Shell, Chicago and Mrs. Hugo, Newport of Oneida, Tennessee; one granddaughter.

Roy Lee Coffey and Ethel Gibson were married. They appeared in the census on 17 April 1930 in McCreary Co., KY.⁴¹⁸⁷¹ They^{⁴¹⁸⁷¹} appeared in the census on 14 May 1940 in Beach Grove, McCreary Co., KY.^41872,41873 Ethel Gibson was born on 4 April 1911 in Kentucky. Ethel died on 31 October 1985 at the age of 74 at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, Allen Co., OH and was buried at Litton Cemetery in Oneida, Scott Co., TN on 3 November 1985.⁴¹⁸⁷⁴

Ethel Gibson Coffey, 74, of Wapakoneta, O[hio], passed away Thursday morning, October 31, 1985 at Lima Memorial Hospital in Lima, O[hio].

She was the daughter of the late Sam and Sarah Gibson and was also preceded in death by her husband, Roy Coffey. Mrs. Coffey is survived by nine children: Jay Coffey and Mrs. James (Juanita) Katterheirich of Wapakoneta, O[hio], Mrs. James (Geneva) Beckett of Logan, W. Va., Mrs. Sherman (Hazel) Chambers of Delbarton, W. Va., Mrs. Joe (Cora) Gremett of Lundale, W. Va., Mrs. James (Carrie) Clayton of Fryburg, O[hio], Roy R. Coffey of Wapakoneta, O[hio], Billy R. Coffey of Union City, and Alvin L. Coffey of Spenserville, O[hio]; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Mrs. Rettie Thomas of Columbus, O[hio], and Mrs. Lola Davis of Pine Knot, Ky.

Funeral services were conducted at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Oneida at 2 p.m. Sunday, November 3, with Rev. John Shepherd officiating. The Bethlehem Baptist Church Choir sang. Burial followed in the Litton Cemetery in Oneida. Pallbearers were: Gary Scott Clayton, Jr., Odie Crabtree, Ricky Grimmett, Robert Lindell Posey, Perry H. Shepherd, and Barney Silcox.

West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida was in charge of the arrangements.

Born in McCreary County, Ky., March 10, 1928, he was the son of the late Roy and Ethel Gibson Coffey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded also in death by two brothers, Bobby Lee and James Edward Coffey; and one sister, Geneva Beckett. He is survived by three daughters: Deborah Faw and husband, Mike of Roanoke, Va., Pam Heltom and husband, Richard of Salem Center, Ohio, and Brenda Potters and husband, Steve of South Wesver, Ohio; one son, Jay Coffey, Jr.; 10 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two step-sons, Paul Haver and Frank Adams; two step-daughters: Kathy Haver and Magie [sic] Seaman; four sisters: Juanita and James Katterheinrich, Hazel and Sherman Chambers, Cora Grimmett, Carrie and Kenneth Steinke; three brothers, Roy Coffey, Bill and Jan Coffey and Albin and Diane Coffey; ex-wife, Louise Coffey, several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives. Funeral service was conducted April 3, 1998, at Long and Folk Funeral Home in Ohio with Rev. James R. Sager officiating. Interment was conducted April 6, 1998, at Litton Cemetery. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
