BARNES WINSTON-SALEM - Mr. James Andrew Barnes passed away on Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at his home in Winston- Salem. He was born August 21, 1925 in Boone to the late Stewart James and Ora Estella Coffey Barnes. He lived most of his life in Winston- Salem. From 1943 to 1946, James served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Olivet Moravian Church and for many years, he was a Sunday School teacher. He was also an acolyte at the church. Since 1946, he was a member and a past master of West Bend Masonic Lodge #434. Mr. Barnes was a third generation master bee keeper and in 1976 he joined the Forsyth County Bee Keeper Association. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret "Peg" Winecoff. Surviving Mr. Barnes are his daughters, Sandra Reich and husband, Bill, Sue Kidd and husband, Mike and Kathy Spainhour and husband, Randy; sisters, Mary Elizabeth Richards, Betty Ruth Elliott and Rebecca Ann Miller; grandchildren, Tammy, Stephanie, Ricky, Kathy and Margaret; great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Tierra, Jacob, Summer, Sydney, Tiegan and William and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 17, 2008 at Olivet Moravian Church. The Rev. Doug Rights will be officiating. Burial will follow in the church graveyard. Visitation will be held this evening from 6-8 p.m. at Vogler and Sons Funeral Home on Reynolda Road. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Olivet Moravian Church, 2208 Olivet Church Rd., Winston- Salem, NC 27106.

James Andrew Barnes and Margaret Ola "Peg" Winecoff were married on 29 June 1947 in Kannapolis, Cabarrus Co., NC.48203 Margaret Ola "Peg" Winecoff, daughter of Bachman Rowe Winecoff and Margaret Ola Hurlocker, was born on 25 April 1927 in Cabarrus Co., NC.7171 Peg died on 19 April 2003 at the age of 75 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC and was cremated on 25 April 2003 in Winston-Salem, Forsyth Co., NC.48204,48205
