3251. John Wesley Coffey was born on 9 March 1876 in Russell Co., KY. John died in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY on 26 February 1953 of an intestinal obstriction and was buried at Hudson Cemetery in Russell Springs, Russell Co., KY on 28 February 1953 .^{11166,11167,11168}

John W. Coffey passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Edward Richards, in the Blair's community on February 26. He had been in ill health for several months.

Mr. Coffey was born on March 9, 1876. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Coffey.

He was united in marriage to Maggie Bell Hudson on December 8, 1893. One child died in infancy. His wife, one sister and three brothers preceded him in death.

His survivors are his children, Mrs. Eliza Combest, North Vernon, Indiana; Mrs. Gracie Acree and Mrs. Beulah Richards, Russell Springs, Ky., and Mrs. Neva Franklin, Russell Springs, Ky.

He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers, Andy Coffey, Sam Coffey and Arthur Coffey, and many relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church.

Funeral was held Saturday, February 23, at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Church, with burial in the family cemetery.

Rev. Ernest Dixon was in charge of funeral services.

Maggie Bell Hudson Coffey was born March 16, 1882 and died May 11, 1944, making her 62 yrs., one month and 26 days old. She prefessed [sic] her faith in Christ at an early age, joined the Liberty Baptist church where her membership remained until her death. She united in marriage with John W. Coffey in December 1898. To this union were born four children children [sic], one died in infancy. She is survived by her husband, John W. Coffey, and three daughters, Mrs. Eliza Combest of North Vernon, Ind., Mrs. Grace Acree of Jamestown, and Mrs. Bula [sic] Richards of Russell Springs, 14 grand children and 4 great great grand children.

Funeral services were held at the home Sunday at 10:30 A. M. by Rev. Simpson B. Rowe, pastor of Russell Springs Baptist church. Burial was in the Hudson graveyard, near the home, with Rippetoe funeral home in charge. [Judy Lynn]

John Wesley Coffey and Maggie Belle Hudson had the following children:
