Clavis Coffey, 83, of Columbia, Ky., formerly of the Gradyville Community in Adair County, Ky., died at 10:15 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2009, at Summit Manor Health & Rehab in Columbia.

Son of the late Cassius and Ina Coomer Coffey of Adair County, he was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, a farmer and was retired from the maintenance department of the Adair County Board of Education.

He was married to Beatrice Corbin Coffey, who survives.

Survivors also include two daughters, Patsy Robertson and Nancy Cundiff, both of Columbia; a sister, Pearl Bennett of Columbia; two grandchildren, Bryan Robertson and Sonya Washam; and four great-grandchildren, Shelby Robertson, Colby Robertson, Brooklynn Robertson and Miller Allen Washam.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Earl Coffey, Ural Coffey, Elroy Coffey, Garon Coffey, Joe Coffey, Raymond Coffey, Avis Coffey, Margie Corbin and Charity Edwards.

Funeral was Monday, June 8 at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in Columbia. Bros. Bobby Withers and Ronnie Dooley officiated. Burial was in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to the Jones Chapel Building Fund and may be made at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Nathan Bennett, Billy Coffey, Phillip Coffey, Barry Hamlett, Bobby Matney, Chad Parnell, Colby Robertson and Jeff Sparks.

Clavis Coffey and Clara Beatrice Corbin were married. Clara Beatrice Corbin, daughter of Charles Corbin and Lou Ellen Coomer, was born on 6 April 1923 in Adair Co., KY. Clara died and was buried at on 27 June 2012 at the age of 89 at Summit Manor Health & Rehab in Columbia, Adair Co., KY and was buried at Jones Chapel Cemetery in Columbia, Adair Co., KY.40408,40409

Clara Beatrice Coffey, age 89 years, a resident of Summit Manor Health & Rehab Center formerly of the Gradyville community passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at Summit Manor.

She was born on April 6, 1923 in Adair County, the daughter of the late Charlie and Lou Ella Coomer Corbin and the widow of Clavis Coffey, who preceded her in death on June 5, 2009.

She is survived by two daughters: Patsy Robertson of Columbia, KY and Nancy Cundiff and her husband, James of Columbia, KY; two brothers, Odell Corbin and his wife, Shirley of Columbia, KY and Ural Corbin; three sisters: Runa Willis, Shirley Gilpin and Elizabeth VanArsdale and her husband J. C. of Columbia, KY; two grandchildren: Bryan Robertson and Sonya Washam and her husband, Matt; four great-grandchildren: Shelby Robertson, Colby Robertson, Brooklynn Robertson and Miller Allen Washam. Several nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister, Harlan Corbin and Lida Matney.

She was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church, had worked at Fruit Loom factory and was a homemaker.

Funeral service was held Friday, June 29, 2012 at 3:00 P.M. CST at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Withers and Bro. John Blakey officiating. Interment in the Jones Chapel Cemetery.
