1027. Roxana Coffee was born on 28 October 1842 in Mississippi. She lived with her parents in Brazoria Co., TX on 26 October 1850. Roxana died on 22 August 1860 at the age of 17 in Brazoria Co., TX and was buried at Sandy Point Cemetery in Sandy Point, Brazoria Co., TX.4154

Roxana Coffee and William Wilson Ward were married on 18 January 1860 in Brazoria Co., TX.4155 They4155 appeared in the census on 7 July 1860 in Brazoria Co., TX.4156 William Wilson Ward was born circa 1838 in Alabama. William died in Murfreesboro, Rutherford Co., TN on 31 December 1862 as a member of Co. B, Terry's Texas Rangers "Roxana Coffee was the youngest child of Thomas Jefferson and Malinda G. Coffee, appearing on the 1850 census in their household at the age of seven. She married William Wilson Ward in Brazoria County on January 18, 1860. The Ward family was listed on the 1860 census as follows: William, 22, was born in Alabama with real estate valued at $30,640, and personal estate valued at $59,800; Anna, 17, was born in Mississippi. Unfortunately, Roxanna died seven months after their marriage, on August 22, 1860. William Ward’s will, dated August 28, 1861, mentioned his deceased wife Roxana, and stated that he had inherited 325 acres on Oyster Creek which was her portion of the Coffee estate. He felt the need to write his will because he was “about to join the Army of the Confederate States of America.” William Ward was killed at Murfreesboro on December 31, 1862 as a member of Terry’s Texas Ranger Company B."
