PATTERSON -- Verley Lawrence Coffey, 77, died June 20, 2002. Funeral is 2 PM Sunday at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is 7-8:30 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Verley Lawrence Coffey and Mavis Minnie Ruth Mathis were married on 17 May 1947 in Mulberry Twp., Caldwell Co., NC.³¹⁸⁰⁵ Mavis Minnie Ruth Mathis, daughter of Hosea Cicero Mathes and Lula Beach-Green, was born on 10 April 1926 in Caldwell Co., NC. Mavis died at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 30 June 2016 and was buried at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir, Caldwell Co., NC on 2 July 2016 .^31806,31807

Ruth Coffey

Ruth Minnie Coffey, age 90, of Alberton Lane, Patterson, NC, died Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care-Kirkwood. She was born April 10, 1926 in Caldwell County to the late Hosea and Lula Beach Mathis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Verley Coffey; two brothers, Ted Greene and Albert Mathis; and three sisters, Betty Willis, Mae Davis and Delcia Greene.

Mrs. Coffey was a homemaker and a member of Unity Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Evelyn Goetz and husband Tim of Scott City, MO and Karen Engstrom and husband Michael of Lenoir; one sister, Edna Ellison of Granite Falls; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Greer-McElveen Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Gary Gragg. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
