Editha Coffey and James Walker McDowell Crist²⁷⁷⁷⁰ were married on 3 February 1897 in Amherst Co., VA.²⁷⁷⁷¹ They²⁷⁷⁷¹ appeared in the census on 16 May 1910 at 906 Turnpike St. in Lexington, VA.²⁷⁷⁷² They²⁷⁷⁷² appeared in the census on 6 January 1920 at 2003 Grace St. in Campbell Co., VA.²⁷⁷⁷³ Editha and James²⁷⁷⁷³ appeared in the census on 12 August 1930 at 2003 Grace St. in Lynchburg, Independent City, VA.²⁷⁷⁷⁴ They²⁷⁷⁷⁴ appeared in the census on 18 April 1940 at 2003 Grace St. in Lynchburg, Independent City, VA.²⁷⁷⁷⁵

"I found your blog on Coffey Cousins today. Editha Coffey and James W. Crist were my paternal grandparents. They lived at 2003 Grace Street until James' death on May 13, 1955. Shortly thereafter, Editha and her daughter, Edith Cordelle (who never married) moved in with Gladys Elinor Crist Candler at 1024 Rivermont Terrace in Lynchburg where she lived until her death in late 1991 at the age of 100 (born Nov. 12 1871). Cordelle died on August 16, 1994. My aunt Gladys is still alive and well at 106, and lives in an assisted living center in Lynchburg (born on Septemebr 16, 1899). Maggie Christine Crist was born on Nov. 19, 1897 and died in the 1918 flu epidemic. Sarah Jane Crist was born on Jan. 31, 1904 and died March 9, 1926 of a burst appendix. Charles Walker Crist, my father, was born Nov 7, 1901 and died on May 13, 1988 from emphysema. I have additional info on the Crist family but very little about the Coffeys other than that Editha was from the village of "Coffey Town" near Buena Vista, VA. in Amherst County. She was a lifelong Methodist and former treasurer of the Old Woman's Missionary Society. She and my grandfather are buried in the Old Presbyterian Cemetery on Grace Street along with their deceased children and grandchildren. I would very much like to learn more about the Coffeys."

[NB: 1871 to 1991 is 120 years. If Edith lived to be 100, she likely died in 1971] James Walker McDowell Crist, son of Reid Crist and Martha Kennedy, was born on 15 May 1874 in Virginia. He registered for the WWI draft on 12 September 1918²⁷⁷⁷⁶ James died of an acute coronary occlusion and was buried at on 13 May 1955 at the age of 80 at home at 2003 Grace St. in Lynchburg, Independent City, VA and was buried at Presbyterian Cemetery in Lynchburg, Independent City, VA.^27777,27778
