1981. William Wesley Coffey was born circa 1834 in North Carolina. He lived with his father and step-mother in Grainger Co., TN on 20 October 1850. He served in Co. D, 26th TN Infantry. between 1861 and 11 July 1864. William died in Cobb Co., GA on 11 July 1864 of wounds and a memorial to him has been placed at the Goodman Cemetery at Whiteway Community, Gibson Co., TN.^7559,7560

Horace Markus Coffey submitted information to the Coffey Cousins' Clearinghouse newsletter in Sep., 2002 that reports William's burial site to be the CSA Cemetery in Covington, GA.

William Wesley Coffey and Gelina E. Shouse were married on 31 July 1854 in Grainger Co., TN.⁷⁵⁶¹ They^⁷⁵⁶¹ appeared in the census on 16 August 1860 in Grainger Co., TN.⁷⁵⁶² Gelina E. Shouse, daughter of Peter Shouse and Malinda Moser, was born on 18 September 1835 in North Carolina.
Her given name has been found as Selina, Jellina and Gelina.

Gelina died on 16 July 1916 at the age of 80 in Grainger Co., TN and was buried at Lamb Cemetery in Thorn Hill, Grainger Co., TN.⁷⁵⁶³
