Mrs. Nellie C. Greene, Route 1, Vesuvius, died at her home October 9, 1958 at 2:10 p.m. She was born in Amherst County, Virginia, January 23,1896, a daughter of the late William Henry and Virginia Lawman Coffey and lived in this county for the past 49 years. Mrs. Greene was a member of the Marvin Methodist Church near Cornwall, Virginia. Surviving are her husband: Mr. O. F. Greene, Route 1, Vesuvius, Va.; two daughters, Mrs. Wilson Engleman, Roanoke, Va.; Mrs. J. A. Luina, San Juan, Puerto Rico, one son, Melvin Carroll Greene, Vesuvius, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie c. Campbell, Lexington, Va.; one great grandchild and a number of nephews and nieces. Funeral services were conducted at the graveside in Fairfield Cemetery October 11, 1968 at 3:00 p.m. The officiating clergyman was Rev. Thomas Hedrick. Nellie Coffey and Ora Franklin Greene were married. They appeared in the census on 29 January 1920 in South River Dist., Rockbridge Co., VA.27889 Ora Franklin Greene was born on 16 December 1877 in Rockbridge Co., VA.
