BOWMAN - Services for the Rev. P. Rufus Coffey, 74, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 15, 2001 at Bowman Southern Methodist Church with the Rev. Raymond E. Coffey, R. Steve Coffey, Dr. Charles Thigpen and Dr. Gwyn L. Pugh officiating. Burial will be in Bowman Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Felder, Archie Felder, Timmy Judy, Josuha Coffey, the Rev. David Day and the Rev. Rawlin Booth. The family will receive friends at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Following the burial, the family will receive friends at the church Fellowship Hall. Dukes-Harley Funeral Home is in charge. Rev. Coffey died Monday morning, February 12, 2001 at Marstons Mills, Mass. Born in Alto, Va., he was a son of the late Early B. Coffey and Gerdie Bliss Davis Coffey. He was a graduate of Bob Jones University, Greenville. Rev. Coffey was a retired Minister, serving in Timmonsville, Darlington, Florence, Columbia, Aynor, Nashville, Tenn. and Norfolk, Va. Rev. Coffey traveled extensively in Missionary and Evangelistic Conferences. His ministry spanned 54 years. 

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Maude F. Coffey, formerly of Bowman; sons, Rev. Raymond E. Coffey, Cape Cod, Mass., R. Steve Coffey, Lyon, France; daughter, Mrs. Rebecca C. Pugh, Memphis, Tenn.; brothers, Marshall Coffey, Lynchburg, Va., Glenn Coffey, Chico, Calif.; sisters, Margaret Ramsey, Crozet, Va., Hilda McGann, Madison Heights, Va., Betty Winters, Santa Rosa, Calif.; 14 grandchildren.

Rev. Percy Rufus Coffey and Maude Fielder were married. Maude Fielder was born on 26 August 1924.
