"Buena Vista, Dec. 20 - Hugh Nelson Coffey, 81, a retired farmer, died Friday at his home at Alto, Amherst county. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ora Crawford Coffey; two sons, Harvey Coffey of Amherst and Hersey Coffey of Alto; two daughters, Mrs. S. H. Crawford of Amherst and Miss Bessie Rae Coffey of Richmond; five sisters, Mrs. Nora Ogden of Amherst, Mrs. I. A. Fitzgerald of Staunton, Mrs. Sophia Taylor of Lynchburg, Mrs. Luther Taylor of Vesuvius and Mrs. Bertha Grant of Roanoke.

"A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Macedonia Methodist Church, Amherst county, with burial there."

Hersey C. Coffey, World War II Veteran, Dead At Age 75

Hersey Carter Coffey, 75, died October 15, 1994 in a Lynchburg Hospital. He was born in Amherst County December 10, 1918, the son of the late Hugh N. and Ora Crawford Coffey. He was a veteran of World War II.

Surviving are one sister, Bessie Fennell, Richmond; a sister-in-law, Nellie R. Coffey, Amherst; three nieces and one nephew.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at the Macedonia United Methodist Church. Burial followed in the Church Cemetery. The Lomax Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Hersey Carter Coffey, 75, of Vesuvius died Saturday, Oct. 15, in a Lynchburg hospital.

He was born Dec. 10, 1918, in Amherst County as was a World War II veteran.

He is survived by one sister, Bessie Fennell of Richmond.

The funeral was held Tuesday, Oct. 18, at the Macedonia United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Lomax Funeral Home.
